The ring of human endeavor

We developed a cohesive, purposeful, and humanistic branding system for the Partners’ Forum 2018 in New Delhi.

What was the fourth Partner’s Forum all about?

PMNCH (Partnership for Maternal, Newborn and Children’s Health) also the Partners’ Forum has 1000 members from 77 countries. In December 2018, the fourth Partners’ Forum was held in New Delhi. The Forum’s six core themes with twelve case studies celebrated their achievements and success stories. Our branding for the conference showcased this cross-platform intervention through a vibrant identity and collaterals.

How did we bring people together?

We engaged Pipli craftspersons to handcraft the key peripherals for the conference such as banners and scrolls, bringing the conference message of ‘power of partnership’ alive. Going beyond the brief, our multi-pronged approach gave opportunities to craftspeople by setting up a platform for sustainable development. Further, post the Forum, we championed repurposing all the material bringing a holistic approach to the conference branding.

“This identity system becomes unique both in how it has been conceived and applied, in its very essence delivering the forum theme – Cross-Sectoral Partnership – in real terms”, says Anthony Lopez, founder, Lopez Design.

The Village Behind The Craft

The idea for the brand identity emerged from the thinking that ‘Women, Children, and Adolescents are the fabric of society’’. This led us to translate the identity in fabric using the craft of Pipli, an eponymous village in Odisha renowned for its indigenous applique work. In the identity, the six themes of the Forum come together in a wheel of life formation, promoting a healthy and productive environment for women, children, and adolescents.

The spirit of collaboration is reinforced by the Pipli applique of ‘bringing pieces together’. The playful graphics and colorful forms lend themselves effortlessly to the message of the Partnership, which advocates cross-sectoral verticals coming together to solve complex problems and make a constructive impact.

A message of sustainability

We also designed conference materials that could be repurposed into usable daily life products such as bags, cushion covers, colorful and table runners. The platform of the conference thus became an active medium for grassroots change infused with the humanistic spirit of handmade stories.

A Two-Day Event At Vigyan Bhawan

Inaugurated by the Prime Minister of India, the opening ceremony set the ball rolling. Studio Eeksaurus was commissioned to create a stop motion animation to show how the logo we designed came together. Twelve women drummers from the Marathi group Bhawani Dhol Tasha Pathak played the welcome rhythms.

The 1600-strong audience applauded the larger than life video ‘What Women Want’ which was projected fifty feet high and three times wider for the first time inside Vigyan Bhawan using 3D projection mapping created by Splat Studio.
