Dear Reader,

When King Pururavas fell in love with the celestial nymph Urvashi, she agreed to marry him on two conditions. One, that he never neglects her pet goats, and two, he should never appear unclothed in front of her. Her stipulation would surely be different today!

Many of us are still bound by COVID to restricted environments, but we have started to move about, travel and work with many safety regulations in place. As we learn to live with the virus, it is technology hand in hand with design, which has helped us tide over through this pandemic with a lot more sophistication with — yes of course — Communication! Apps and Online Video calls, all of which are designed for smooth interfacing have kept us together even if we are physically apart.

Even as we look forward to the flattening of the curve and the situation to ease up, as designers we look at this phase as an opportunity to learn lessons from Nature for the benefit of mankind. How can we make better choices? How can designers help to create comforting environments? Can communication be a tool for survival?

This issue TAKE-ON SEPTEMBER brings you our findings of ingenious ways humans have taken on the COVID pandemic. In Behavior Change for Life not Lifestyle, I share our new venture CCI and what my colleagues on board have to say about this collaborative and creative platform for change. In Branding Nestaway: Memes that Speak to Millions, we bring you a freewheeling conversation with house-finding platform Nestaway founder Amarendra Sahu and myself. You can read excerpts from Environment Branding in the Age of COVID, a white paper in collaboration with Global Association for Corporate Services. In Essentials of Branding, we talk about the basics of how purpose-driven branding can steer your company forward.

We urge you to stay safe, be compassionate, and actively steer change.

Warmest wishes,
Anthony Lopez
