Godrej Properties commissioned Lopez Design to provide a comprehensive wayfinding strategy, design, planning, and execution managment for Godrej Meridien's towers, basement, and clubhouse. The signage package includes entrance and facade signage, directional signs, identification, regulatory, and Fire and Life Safety signs.

A luxurious ‘place to be’

Strategically located near the Dwarka Expressway in Delhi NCR, Godrej Meridien’s uber-luxury apartments offer some of the most unique everyday experiences. The residents get access to open green areas that ensure their fitness and recreational needs are taken care of. Club Meridien on the property, is one of the largest and finest clubhouses of the region hosting a multitude of signature experiences.

Totem Signage for Navigation

The chamfered top of the residential towers accentuated with a wash of light make the towers look taller and grander, lending a sense of opulence to the property. The signage draws both directly and metaphorically from the facade design of the seven residential towers. We also decided on a limited but distinctive earthy color palette that differentiates the vehicular and pedestrian pathways, making use of materials like solid surfaces and PU-coated aluminum that complement the urban landscape in a cohesive way. The vehicular totems have white retro-reflective graphics so that information is legible even during low-light conditions.

Typography and Iconography

We used the typeface Helvetica Neue across the entire project as it offers many options. The many widths and heights provide better readability and legibility, while the enlarged spacing, revised punctuation, and additional numbers make it particularly well suited for wayfinding and signage. We created a fresh icon set that resonates with the Helvetica Neue font used across the signage system, keeping in mind this minimalistic approach.

Placemaking for a remarkable experience

Wayfinding comes together with placemaking to create a memorable experience at the Meridien. The introduction of QR codes into the totem signs situates the user and anchors them with a sense of centrality by giving the overview of the Meridien, which helps to build a mental model of the entire scape. Further, the themes of community and connectivity come alive with this ability to locate various events and offers, contributing to the residents’ sense of belonging and pride of place. The residents can access information about upcoming events or an exhibit in an art gallery, spa salon packages, subscriptions all together adding to the theme of 'THIS IS THE PLACE TO BE'. Our wayfinding and signage design for Godrej Meridien overall gives emphasis by connecting people to where they live.
