A modern Monolith

The central feature of the signage system for Kartavya Path is a monolithic signpost, whose form and engravings are inspired by two iconic Indian elements from our ancient past — the Iron Pillar of Delhi and the Ashoka Chakra.

Kartavya Path means the Path of Duty and Ashoka’s Dharma Chakra with its 24 spokes also symbolizes dharma — duty by cosmic law and order. The Iron Pillar of Delhi, a 7.2 meter tall post constructed by Chandragupta II (reign circa 375 - 415 CE) has great historical significance, celebrating the king’s victory. The pillar’s metallurgy is unique and has stood the test of time, proving Indian supremacy in technological skill and invention.

In India's Capital and at the heart of our Central Government, these posts serve both a strong symbolic and functional purpose, leading you to your destination.

Small directional posts are placed at all important intersections, and each post carries the map of the vista. A user coming in at any point can orient themselves easily to reach their desired destination, as well as find amenities such as parking and public transit.
